PROMOTING SAFE AND STABLE FAMILIES

(PSSF)

 

This is a small grant from the Department of Human Services that provides funds for:

 

  • School clothing and school supplies - vouchers are dispersed in August prior to the starting of most schools
  • Eye exams and eyeglasses
  • Special Activities – a letter explaining what funds are needed for must accompany request.

These services are for those Tribal (child/children) members living within the Tribe’s service area, and enrolled in public schools. Funds are dispersed on a first come, first served basis and funds are limited. All requests must be pre-approved by the PSSF Director.

 

Eligible Tribal (child/Children) members are required to fill out an application, with the following information needed:

 

  • Proof of Tribal membership, e.g., Tribal membership card
  • Copy of Birth Certificate for each child
  • Proof of Residency

Tribal Government

 

The supreme governing body of the Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma is the Ottawa Council, commonly referred to as the General Council, composed of all members of the Tribe eighteen (18) years of age and over. This body meets at least once annually, with the possibility of additional sessions at any point with notice and for cause.

 

Power to transact business on behalf of the Tribe is otherwise invested in the Business Committee, consisting of the Officers of the Tribe. The current officers are:

 

 

This body meets at least once quarterly, with additional meetings as necessary to conduct the business of the Tribe.
